Overview

I received my MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the University of Southern California and my BA in English from the University of Illinois at Springfield. I love being an ESL tutor.

I was born in the United States and grew up primarily in Atlanta, Georgia but have lived in the Los Angeles area since 2004. 

I have some fluency in Spanish, French, Farsi, and Mandarin.

I believe that learning is a partnership. In order for your to achieve your goals, we must constantly work together. 

At the start of each of my ESL tutoring sessions, I make sure to get a clear understanding of  your specific goals, so that we both know what we need to accomplish. 

My personal teaching philosophy is based on sociocultural and cognitive theory-backed language learning strategies and methods. I am a culturally responsive reflective practitioner who views my role as that of a facilitator, a guide. I work very hard to create a learning environment that is nurturing, encouraging, supportive, and that makes students feel safe to use English just beyond their current level of proficiency.
